Luciano Pavarotti - Pavarotti Honoured In Tribute Less Than Year After Death

Late opera legend LUCIANO PAVAROTTI is set to be honoured in a memorial tribute in New York on Tuesday (20May08).

The famous tenor will be remembered in a video compilation titled Grandissimo: Luciano Pavarotti Tribute, which will feature his career triumphs and life achievements.

The memorial, set to take place in New York's Town Hall, will also feature guest appearances from fellow opera stars Richard Thomas and Sherrill Milnes, who will recall their time with the beloved legend.

Thomas tells the New York Post, "He was the first person to visit my triplets in the hospital. The hospital gown (the staff) insisted he wear didn't fit all the way up his arms, so he walked from the corridor with his arms out, like Frankenstein. And when their mother came to, he applauded her, saying, 'Brava! Brava!'"

Milnes adds, "His eyes were magic. He bore into you and you forgot this was a heavy guy, because you were mesmerised by his eyes and what they said to thousands of fans."

Pavarotti died from pancreatic cancer in September 2007, aged 71.
